    ...I think that you have really changed, uh ... youve had an impact on the vocabulary of jazz and tonal color, by bringing in the cultural elements from Japan. Um, but obviously you have a great regard and love for some of the people who came before you, like in 1978, you made a recording dedicated to Billy Strayhorn (Tribute to Billy Strayhorn, released in 1982 on Jazz America).
