Bobby Shew would not play any jazz as long as Blue Mitchell was in the band. He loved Blue Mitchell. Then when Blue Mitchell passed away, then Bobby Shew started playing jazz too. But he loved Blue Mitchell so much. He said, "As long as Blue Mitchell's here, he's the boss. " Blue Mitchell was great, a great performer, a great guy.
