    There was no other place to go except Minton's. They had been all over town. When I was with Andy Kirk I used to come to New York. Dick Wilson, Lester Young, some of the Count Basie musicians, and I - we'd go all over town opening up new places and the minute the business was going well they'd throw us out, wouldn't allow us to come in any more.
