Since '41, 32 years. Very famous house. Mel Torme used to come here, Sarah Vaughan, even Leonard Feather, Benny Goodman. Seemed like it was more inspira- tion for them than I had out of the house. I had to go down to Nola's and get my inspiration. Dizzy Gillespie, Miles Davis - oh, just all the musicians came here. Seemed like I was inspi- ration or something for them.
