Oh, yes. Charlie Parker would always call and ask me if I liked some things he had written and when he did the strings he asked me to come down to Birdland. He said, "I want you to tell me really what you think of it, Lou. " I went down. Charlie Parker was a wonderful guy. I was at Birdland one day - you know that bar was terrible.
