    Not immediately, because I went to Connecticut to play for a while. That's where I met this alto saxophonist Charlie Holmes, whom had played with Louis Armstrong and Luis Russell. He told Luis Russell about me. Luis Russell had never heard me. He sent me a special delivery letter. We were playing at Martha's Vineyard, part of Cape Cod there.
