    He was a conductor in the Bass Choir, in the young bass player's choir. He was a conductor. And then he didn't have anybody, and didn't care about anybody. And the only people that were making any money in that Bass Choir were Richard Davis, Ron Carter and me. We were making a record date. And we was working a lot.
