Norman Granz had the facility to listen to various players and pair them. And in some cases pit them one against the other. You know he'd, I remember we were listening to one player, I won't call any names, we were listening to one person play and he'd say "boy he can play. I'd like to hear him with Little Jazz" you know, Roy Eldridge.
