Jimmy Morton: Yeah, well the Putnam Central, on Putnam Avenue… Charlie Mingus and Max Roach had a studio in that building where the Putnam Central [jazz club] was, and they were among few musicians who wanted to put out their own records. [ Charles] Mingus and Max [Roach] started producing their own records.
