Jo Ann Cheatham: In 1999 Torrie [McCartney], Alma Carroll, and they had gotten Jitu [Weusi], and we had a meeting at Sugar Hill. The first Central Brooklyn Festival happened in April 2000. And that’s when Jazz: A Woman’s Viewpoint [magazine], and Pure Jazz [magazine] first came out.
