Well I joined Benny Carter about that time. And I was kidding him I says "are we going to start playing Bop? " And he says "well you're playing it already. " I said "oh, good. " Benny Carter had a big influence on my career because he's a superhuman guy. That guy is unbelievable. He can write, he can play, and he's a nice man which helps a lot you know.
