I took a leave of absence my last year of Juilliard to go on the road with Barnet. I started off on fourth tenor and then on the second tour I was playing lead alto. In fact my final exam coincided with, we were doing a week at the Apollo Theater, which is 125th Street, and Juilliard is 122nd Street. Pretty close geographically, but philosophically hundreds of miles apart. But yeah it was great.
