No, I had a hard time because improvisation was considered recreational music at Yale. There was no place for it in the curriculum and it was something that you did after dinner in the lounge of the mess hall. So it wasn't something that was really being encouraged, you were really being taught, which is kind of hypocritical, as I began to see more and more, that all that music in the library ...
